Healthy distractions

When my mind starts to focus on the negatives in my life, it is helpful for me to redirect those thoughts by engaging in tasks I enjoy. I enjoy reading, playing an occasional online game, and listening to classical music. Sometimes it means doing work in our spacious back yard. Before I know it, my thinking is much more positive. Situations in life change continually and what appears dismal today is realized as only temporary. In the meantime I can put myself in a joyful mood with a simple change in activity. It is helpful to make a list and post it in some convenient spot to remind myself of what these activities are, especially when I am in the midst of negative thoughts. What activities bring you joy and serve as healthy distractions?
