Look in the mirror

Date:
December 14, 2023

When you look into a mirror, what are the messages you give yourself? Do you gaze at your image and tell yourself how much you love what you see? Or do you look at yourself and point out your flaws telling yourself that you are too fat, too wrinkled, too thin, ad infinitum? We can use the information from the mirror to make healthy decisions such as dropping unneeded weight when it is detrimental to our well-being. We make these decisions out of love, not contempt, for who we are. By approaching our image in the mirror from this perspective we are given the resources we need to make changes that are based in self-caring and self-nurturing. When I look in the mirror and see the wrinkles, I remind myself that they are part of the aging process and I celebrate all the wonderful experiences I have had in reaching this point in my life. My interpretation of my image in the mirror is a reflection of my state of self-acceptance and self-love which may or may not require an action to demonstrate what is needed to respect and honor my physical self. If I need to go on a diet or increase my physical activity, the answers will be made known to me. What do you see when you look in the mirror today?
