About David
I was in the first generation within my family to attend college. Prior to this, my father and uncles worked in semi-skilled occupations. My father retired from the same position after holding it for more than 25 years. Therefore, I knew very little about how to choose a professional career path. I learned through trial and error that I had a fascination with psychology, which led me to the field I’m in today.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance, as well as a Doctor of Philosophy in Education from the University of Arizona. I’ve worked in schools, nonprofits, career one-stops, and private practice. I've presented on career-related topics to universities, community organizations, and employment centers. Every setting I’ve worked in has given me valuable experience that can be applied to my clients. I am a member of the Career One Stop national advisory board and the Phase2Careers advisory board. I’ve also had the opportunity to write three books about my field.
Helping People From All Walks of Life
When I’m not working, I enjoy traveling the world. Having visited all seven continents at least once, I’ve had the chance to meet people from all walks of life. I consider myself to be a lifelong learner, so I’m usually enrolled in a professional growth class to hone my professional skills. My own experiences – professional and personal – have allowed me to better serve my clients and help them work through a variety of issues.
