Evolution

Since our species first arrived on the planet millennia ago, we have been evolving in both physical and mental ways. We have become taller, stronger, smarter, and more technically advanced over time. One area that has changed very little over that time period is our emotions. The fear that our cave-dwelling ancestors felt is very similar to what we experience today. The same is true of anger, joy, and love. Have you ever wondered why that is? The objects of our emotions may change over time given the circumstances, but our emotions provide us information that directs our responses to those circumstances. Our ancestors may have felt fear in response to potential animal threats while today’s fears may be more based on what weimagine. This may be a fear of being destitute, homeless, or starving. Ourminds are capable of creating worse case scenarios that tap into those fears. The same is true of any other emotion. We have not evolved to the point whereour minds can distinguish what is real from what is imagined. This may be afunction of our survival programming. A thousand years from now we will mostlikely be experiencing the same emotions while other parts of us are changingand adapting. What messages have your emotions sent you to help you survive?
