Finding the silver lining
It isn't always easy to find the good in an event, but if you look hard enough you will be successful. I was scheduled for a late night departure flight from Maui to the mainland. I thought that it would be an easy thing to do since it was such a small airport and, because it was the beginning of Thanksgiving week, the majority of passengers would be flying into, not out of, Maui. Counter to this logic our party decided to arrive three hours ahead of the flight to learn that it had been canceled with nothing available until the following day. I kept thinking positively and we were quickly rerouted further inland adding five hours to our travel time. I could have stood there complaining about the inconveniences, but instead looked for the positives. We were booked for a flight and had cell phones to make the necessary changes in our schedule. While standing in the longest line to security that anyone could remember, we learned that the couple behind us had been booked on the canceled flight and hadn't been notified. I wondered what the odds were of us having a discussion about which flights we were on and being able to inform them of the change - another silver lining. Oh, yes, and all along the way I kept finding pennies. Where are the silver linings in your life today?
