Follow your heart

There is so much more that we are learning about the power of the heart. We used to believe that the only function of the heart was to pump blood through our bodies. Even science is considering what other capabilities the heart may hold. We know that people who have been the recipients of heart transplants have taken on the thoughts of their donors. This is evidence of the power of the heart. When we are uncertain of what choices to make in life we rarely hear others say, "Follow your head." We are told to follow our hearts as if the heart's guidance system is one less fallible than what our head might direct us to do. It may be that the heart is the center from which love, not just blood, flows. If that is the case, then it would seem natural that we would be attracted to the object of that love. It may be a career, a new place to live, or a romantic partner. When we quiet our mind chatter and listen to our heart messages, we begin to have an intuitive sense of what our next steps would be. Think of the times when you have attended to the messages that your heart has sent you and where you were led. How did that play itself out in your life?
