I'll never forget
Memories are gifts that allow us to draw on our experiences to carry out our life's mission. They can be selective in nature. We know this to be true when we ask more than one person to share their recollections of an event. As you hear them recount their experience, you wonder if they were even at the same event. They have chosen to focus on certain details and not others. This is often a function of how their brain processes information. Our negative memories are just as important as our positive ones. Our negative memories remind us of the times when we have made decisions that have not served us well. It is as if we have been given a built-in navigational system that guides us on a course that is designed to bring about joy and happiness. It is when we forget to attend to that system that we run into problems. I can think of quite a few situations in my life that I am highly unlikely to repeat based on my memories of them. I remember one piece of advice that helps me over the rough spots: "When I know better, I'll do better." That knowledge comes from the memories I have of what did and didn't work. What is it that you'll never forget that will guide you to the life you deserve?
