Nobody's perfect
Have you ever heard someone claim that he or she is a perfectionist? What exactly does that mean? It typically involves the need to be flawless and to set high performance standards for themselves and others. There is a difference between being perfect and being accurate. Scoring 100% on a math test is more about the ability to be accurate with your computations than being perfect. 100% accuracy is achievable and desirable in certain circumstances. It can leave you with feelings of accomplishment and satisfaction. Perfectionism leads to stress and unhappiness. Rather than "Practice makes perfect," it would be better to think "Practice makes improvement." Focus on mastery knowing that there is always room for improvement. Think of an area in which you would like to experience growth and development and create a plan to work toward that goal. Offer others the same consideration. Give yourself permission to be human and learn from life along the way. In what area do you have the need to be perfect and how can you change that to progress rather than perfection?
