Spreading warmth and caring

Last night I had the honor to present to a group of job seekers on how to approach their job search. The invitation came from someone I had met a few weeks before at a Chamber of Commerce mixer. After a brief conversation, he asked me if I would be willing to talk to people at a gathering. I immediately agreed to do this even with a long drive and no compensation. As I shared what I know about the job search process to people who had been in the company for up to thirty years, I could feel a deep sense of caring from them. Afterwards I spoke to a number of those attending who expressed their sincere appreciation for my talking to them. The person who invited me told me that he believed we are all connected and that we are here for each other. I also had heard from others that this man definitely had a positive effect on the lives of others in the workplace. When I asked him what he hoped to gain from doing this, his response was that he simply wanted to help others. In a time when he could choose to be bitter about a change in his job status, he chose instead to focus on warmth and caring for others. He is a model for what we can be in the world and I wondered who had learned more from the experience. How are you sharing warmth and caring today?
