Stinkin' thinkin'

Date:
June 27, 2021

I once heard someone state that when we are in our heads we are behind enemy lines. We can create worst case scenarios and engage in destructive self-talk that serves no benefit. It only minimizes who we are. The first step to changing our negative thinking is to become aware of its frequency. What are you doing at the time that it occurs? Who else is around you? What are they saying about you and how do you incorporate that into your self-talk? When it is something less than complimentary, you can respond with, "Thanks for sharing," and recognize that it may not be a valid statement. After awhile you will find yourself having many more positive thoughts about yourself and the world around you. You will catch yourself engaging in stinkin' thinkin' and counter it when that happens. What does your self-talk sound like today and what can you do to change it when it is negative?
