Take off the training wheels
When we first begin a new task or job, it is important to learn as much as we can about what is needed to perform successfully. We need to give ourselves permission to make mistakes as part of the learning process. We ensure that we find excellent teachers and mentors who walk us through the experience and provide feedback on how we are doing. As time passes we gain our balance much like we did when we were learning to ride a bicycle. Our self-confidence increases and we are ready to remove the training wheels and do it on our own. We will be somewhat wobbly at first, and eventually we are feeling the freedom that accompanies this process. When we give ourselves permission to approach life in this manner, the pressure to be perfect dissipates. Our days are much more enjoyable and low in stress.
