Time for a break

Date:

We rush through our days with hardly a moment to pause and reflect on what is happening in our lives. Our focus on what we are doing serves as a distraction for taking a serious look at how we are being in the present. I am often reminded that we are human BEINGS, not human DOINGS. As such it is important to take time to step back and ask ourselves the hard questions. "How am I making a positive difference for myself and others today?" "How is who I truly am showing up right now?" "How am I missing the mark and how can I better use my gifts to live my life's purpose?" The answers to these questions may cause us to rethink the direction that our life is taking. I recall asking myself these questions a number of years ago and realizing that my occupation at that time was no longer right for me. That decision brought me to where I am today. Had I not taken a break to ask those questions, my life today would look very different. While it took a lot of courage to leave a career of over 30 years, I am much happier today because of that decision. I am again in that process to identify what the next chapter in my life will look like. This time I know that I will be shown what that direction will encompass and that whatever I pursue will be right and perfect for this time in my life. Taking a break helps to shed light on the path we are on and helps us to discern what is next in our journey. What would you learn if you took time for a break today?
