Waves of happiness
Consider what life would be like if you were happy 24/7. It would become as unnoticed as your heart beat or your breathing. By not having it present in your life all the time, it is something that you are aware of when it does occur. Perhaps our goal is to have it in our lives more often than not. I liken it to what I tell people after I have been sick for several days. Although I don't like the feelings associated with being sick, I certainly appreciate when it has passed and I am feeling healthy. Happiness flows over us in waves and we feel good when it is there. What constitutes happiness differs for each of us. Sometimes it feels like a small ripple and other times it feels like a tsunami. We'll never be given more happiness than we can handle. Think of what it is that brings happiness to your life and seek out ways to generate those waves. If you start to feel other than happy, you can choose to engage in an activity that brings it about. Happiness has a positive effect on our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual states. That's why we benefit from strong doses of it on a daily basis. What was the last wave of happiness you experienced?
