Who am I?
For over two thousand years we have been advised to "Know thyself." You would likely think, "Who knows me better than I do? I live with me every day." Yet many of us don't have a true sense of who we truly are. To have that level of self-awareness you would need to know the principles that guide you, what it is you love to do, what you want to achieve in life, and the type of environment that supports your optimal growth. You would also need to know the ways in which you consistently act, think, and behave. What are your strengths and weaknesses? What effect do you have on others? Think about how you see yourself and ask, "Is this the same way others see and experience me?" Perhaps what others see is more like the distortion in a fun house mirror being perceived by others while believing that it is the image you see when you look in the mirror. The two images may be quite disparate. Our journey into self-awareness leads us to congruence between the two images. Are you willing to ask others what their image of you is and make any necessary adjustments that lead to a healthier self-awareness? What would it take for you to answer truthfully, "Who am I?"
