Adapting to change

Date:
October 31, 2022

Resistance to change is natural. It requires you to make adjustments to your own behavior as well as the people around you. It may involve adapting to a new environment or a change in time for performing your tasks. As a result of these changes, you may find that your stress levels have increased. You may feel irritable and impatient. Your body is telling you that what you are experiencing is outside your comfort zone. How you handle the change can assist in adapting to it. Change can often be accompanied by a sense of lack of control. Ask yourself what you can control within the situation. Keep it simple. You can also explore the new opportunities that the change can present. You can learn new skills and meet new people who can become part of your network. It sometimes helps to stop and gather more information related to the change. Don’t count on your current thinking to make good decisions at this time. Your thinking is trying to make sense of all that is happening and isn’t always the best source for what steps to take next. Ask yourself who might have those answers that will support you at this time. Create a vision for what you would like to see as the change becomes more of your daily life. Remember that change is a constant and learn to use it to your benefit. What is a change you are currently experiencing and what are you doing to adapt to it?
