Are we there yet?

For some it is the journey. For others it is the destination. In either case we must realize that we cannot change the role that time plays in moving us forward in life. Unlike the character of Samantha in Bewitched, we can't wiggle our nose and magically produce what we desire. Earning a college degree requires attending classes, taking tests, and writing papers until we have completed the established curriculum. Building a house begins with blueprints, hiring the necessary contractors, and following a prescribed plan. You can't build the roof before you construct the foundation and the walls. The end result involves attention to the process (the journey) that leads to what we see as our goal or intention. Sometimes it takes years before we achieve the end we desire. Think about retirement or composing a symphony. What helps to pass the time is to appreciate the present. It also helps to allow flexibility in what the process looks like. What you think is absolutely critical today may lose its appeal tomorrow. Know that something even better can await you. How are you enjoying life today on your journey towards your destination?
