Better than I expected
I often will end an intention with “This or something better.” This statement prevents me from being too narrowly focused on what I think the desired outcome should be. It also allows for other possibilities to manifest. This has become evident for me lately in a number of situations. For years I struggled with my weight. I cringe when I look at photos of myself taken ten years ago when I weighed almost 200 pounds at a height of 5’5”. While the desire to change my weight was present, little change took place. It wasn’t until I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2023 that I knew that I had to adopt a different approach to my weight. I examined my eating habits and exercise regime and altered them to align with my intention of weighing 150 pounds. I now weigh 148 pounds and look and feel so much better. I dropped over 20% of my body weight which the doctor said he rarely sees in that short of time. I also no longer carry the diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes. When people I know ask me if I feel deprived in making such a significant change, I remind them that I am doing so as a form of self-caring. The results were way beyond what I expected. What is it that you desire and how attached are you to having it manifest based on a narrow expectation?
