Contingency plans
Our plans are what help to guide us. We plan our careers, our vacations, and our finances. Our life experiences teach us that our plans rarely turn out exactly the way we calculated them. Unexpected events come our way that cause us to rethink our original goals and set forth on a new direction. We develop contingency plans to address the changes in our lives. They provide flexibility, openness, and energy to the new information we are incorporating into our future. I have learned that I function much better with a Plan B in mind. It takes less recovery time for me to move on to the next steps with a Plan B in place. I found this to be true when I left an occupation after 34 years without having a clear plan for my future in place. Today I am more likely to have a back up plan based on what occurred for me. What I ultimately realize is that no plan is set in stone and that my path is based on knowing what my purpose is. My understanding of that purpose is constantly evolving, thus causing me to consider new plans for my life as that proceeds. How do you use contingency plans in your life?
