Feeling lonely

The feeling of loneliness often involves a sense of disconnection and isolation. It may be accompanied by sadness, frustration, and confusion. There is a longing to be a part of something outside of yourself.The need to belong is a core need that humans have. It may be more prevalent during holidays when families and friends gather together, when you have no one to share watching your favorite movie at night, or when you spend your weekend with your covers pulled over your head. Something is missing from your life even though you may not know what that is. The first way to address you rloneliness is to acknowledge that it is present. Ask yourself who you coul dtalk to – a friend, a colleague, or a family member. Remember that loneliness is based on the need to connect. One of the best ways to deal with loneliness is by being of service to others. It helps to create a sense of purpose and can reduce your feelings of isolation. There are so many opportunities to volunteer in this area. Most of all, it is important to practice self-compassion. Taking the suggested actions can help you alleviate your feelings of loneliness.
