I'd NEVER do that

As human beings we are each the sum total of all possible characteristics. We possess the capability to be both selfless and selfish, caring and uncaring, loving and violent. We spend our energy demonstrating one over the other depending on what is happening at the moment. It is much like having a closet full of clothes, some of which we wear daily because we feel so comfortable in them, while others hang idly for our entire lifetime. They are still there for the wearing, but we don't have the right occasion to put them on. The side of us that we try to hide from others is still present. We may show love to those outside our home and make degrading remarks to our children in private. We may proclaim our honesty and cut corners on our taxes. We may tell the world that we care about everyone and then harbor hateful thoughts toward specific groups. This is a part of being human. It is important to explore where the thoughts and actions arose and what they are here to teach us. Then we can see how they can be used in a positive way once we shed light on them. Remember that what we resist persists. What is it that you see as negative in others that is a part of who you are?
