If you really knew me
For many of us there is an insecurity related to our ability to carry out a task or duty. Perhaps it stems from lack of encouragement or criticism from our past. Or we may be asked to do something that we have absolutely no experience with and are afraid to request assistance in how to do it. We attempt to do our best, all the while questioning our capacity to do it in an acceptable manner. To an outsider we demonstrate confidence and competence, while on the inside we are saying to ourselves, "If they really knew me and how little I know about what I am doing, the would see me as the fake that I am." We fail to give ourselves credit for the effort we do put into it and often the results are fine with the other parties. We forget that it is all right to ask for help when we are unsure of the steps to take. That is what learning is all about. Acknowledge the courage it takes to move past your fears and insecurities to do what is needed knowing that it will eventually become part of your natural routine if practiced enough. What tasks do you feel insecure about doing and what can you do to change that?
