Nice to meet you!

Today I had the good fortune to attend a birthday party given for a 10 and 12 year old set of brothers. The only person I knew prior to attending was their mother. Thoughout the event I had an opportunity to meet new people. One thing I learned today that I shared with a woman I had just met was that some people like having many conversations that carry small degrees of substance and others prefer spending time with one person having a deeper level of interaction. It isn't that one is right and the other is wrong. It is simply that we each find ways to express ourselves in a new group of people. I have no problem sharing at a deeper level where I feel that connectedness and leave the event feeling a sense of warmth and caring. How do you engage with people when you meet them for the first time?
