No losers

While there is generally a sense of exhilaration when it comes to winning, it does not negate the efforts and value of those who didn’t win. They each did their best to achieve their goal. They may not have walked away with a trophy or a blue ribbon, but they can acknowledge their commitment to participating in the event. Rather than engage in self-talk such as “I’m a failure” or “I’ll never win anything,” replace it with “What did I learn about myself that I can take forth in the future?” Think about talent competitions. Neither Jackie Evancho from America’s Got Talent and Susan Boyle from Britain’s Got Talent came in first place, yet each of them went on to achieve stardom. Do you even remember the acts that came in first place in those events? What about Jennifer Hudson from American Idol whose talents were questioned? She went on to receive an academy award. You definitely would not consider these three women to be losers. What did you gain from not winning?
