Of days gone by

As we age it is natural to discuss what life was like in the past. We recall that the price we paid for a gallon of gas was about 30 cents or that a large candy bar cost 5 cents. We discuss how we used a rotary dial on our telephones and that television programs were only in black and white. We were baffled by the idea that you could see the face of the person you were talking to on a screen or that you could carry a device that served as both a telephone, a camera, and a computer. Today they are both commonplace in our lives. Forty years from now our youth will be talking about these devices and how they are so far removed from what is available to them in the mid 21st century. While the days of the past are colored by what was available to us at that time, the future is filled with endless possibilities. Conversations of "What if there was something we could use to make life easier?" will lead to an idea that eventually manifests in physical form. That discovery will take its place in the constant flow of human ingenuity. Just as the Universe is ever expanding, so is our own ability to create from thought. What do you recall from the past that has changed over time and how do you picture life in your future?
