Take time to think
When faced with an important decision, you might want to step back and consider its outcome. Unless you are faced with immediate danger such as stepping in front of an oncoming car or about to fall over a cliff, there is really no decision that can’t benefit from giving it some extra thought. One sales tactic is to pressure you into buying their product that will only be available during their phone call. Think about what you are being asked to do andweigh its merits for fulfilling your needs. Do you really need another household appliance that will likely sit on a shelf unused? Or do you really need another pair of shoes when there are 15 others in your closet? It might seem appealing at the time, but will you wear those shoes on a regular basis? Then there are the big ticket items like buying a car. It might be helpful to take time to list all the features you are seeking and taking that list to the dealership. This will be beneficial when the salesperson starts to share all the bells and whistles that are not included on your list. Remember, you have the right to take your time to evaluate the choices you make. The time you take now can help you avoid negative outcomes that you might regret. What decisions are you facing now that some extra time will be of help?
