Waiting until tomorrow

Date:
September 8, 2022

Have you ever had something that you needed to do today and decided to put it off until tomorrow? You have all the valid responses you need for why that makes sense. "I don't have time for that today." "I might not be able to finish what I start." "It really isn't that important." In some cases your decision is accompanied by a sense of relief. Other times it generates guilt. But the bottom line is that the task does not disappear from needing to be done. Postponing the task can bring about varying levels of consequences. It can range from little, if any, impact to a life threatening situation. Think about how choices to put off health concerns, paying a bill, or not meeting a deadline at work can change your life. When you are facing a task that needs to be taken care of today, ask yourself what keeps you from moving ahead with it. If necessary, break it down into something that is manageable and then do it. Give yourself credit for taking that small step. Then add the next step until the task is fully completed as needed. What do you need to do today that would cause problems if you put it off until tomorrow?
