Maybe not today

Do you ever find yourself putting off for tomorrow what you can do today? There are so many ways that this can show up in your life. It might be in the form of looking for a new job, finishing a school assignment, or paying a bill. For some reason you decide that whatever needs tobe done can wait. This most likely occurs because you are not sure what needs to be done or how to do it. You may have no desire to do it today or not be in the mood to take it on. You may not really care if it gets done. It stems from lack of confidence, fear, anxiety, or lack of motivation. It is not until the consequence becomes severe enough that it grabs your attention and forces you to take action. Not paying a bill on time could result in a penalty or a visit from a bill collector. Refraining from looking for a job could mean being evicted from your current residence when you can’t pay the rent or your mortgage. Not submitting a school assignment on time can result in a failing grade. To remedy this, identify the smallest step you can take in the moment that will lead to completing the task. It may be opening up your checkbook for your current balance, going online to look for job openings, or brainstorming ideas for your school assignment. Then identify your next step once you have successfully completed your first step. Before you know it you are done. What is a task you have been putting off for tomorrow that you can begin today?
